Erin equipped with the tools to thrive in the beauty industry
Level 5 New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy
Elite School of Beauty and Spa has
supported Erin Rogers to improve her confidence and hit the ground running in
employment.
At the age of 19, the soon-to-be graduate
is on the verge of completing her Level
5 New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy at Elite’s Hamilton campus and is
working in the industry at LUXE Skin and Beauty.
Erin's fascination with the beauty industry
began early, and it was her high school teachers who introduced her to Elite by
suggesting she enrol in STAR Taster
Courses.
She says the programme has provided her not
only with the necessary beauty therapy skills but also with a renewed mindset
and confidence.
“Elite’s motto is ‘work ready and world
ready’. This really pushes me to become a professional and provide work to a
high standard in a friendly manner which is important in day-to-day life,” she
explains.
Taking on real clients at Elite also proved
to be of huge benefit; “I learnt to build up my confidence by having conversations
with clients and other people in the industry.”
During her time at Elite, Erin has had
numerous achievements including being awarded top beauty technician of the
year, securing a work placement early on in her training and successfully
balancing her studies with her shifts.
She plans to continue working at LUXE Skin
and Beauty for the next year or so, gaining important on-the-job experience.
“My next step in my beauty journey is to go
and pursue my current job and get all the skills I can gain to become the best
therapist I can be and to take opportunities one at a time.”
Erin says anyone planning to study at Elite
should come with “an open and positive mindset, ready to learn all aspects of
the beauty industry.”
“Most importantly, be open and honest with
your trainer and elite staff members as they can be a lot of help while
studying and even while you are out in the industry.”
