1 May 2019 – The first Elite School of Beauty & Spa Jobs Fair was held on April 29 in Wellington. With nearly 50 years’ experience training New Zealand’s leading makeup artists, cosmetic consultants, specialised beauty therapists, salon managers and more, recruiters certainly had access to the best graduates looking to enter the industry.
Elite prides itself on training students to be work ready, with the skills and practice needed to excel in their chosen fields of expertise. Graduates are sought after across a range of positions, and the Elite Job Fair provides a forum for students and recruiters to be in one place.
Elite students are all passionate about joining the business of making people look good and feel good about themselves. Students selected which businesses they would like to work with, and took part in interviews.
Seven industry members attended the event, including Wax n Laser, The Beauty Spot, Buoy, Forme Spa, and Overtones, with 15 Elite students interviewing with company representatives across three rounds. Wellington Campus Manager, Amanda Hawea is now working with the companies to organise second round interviews, which will lead to confirmed employment.
Elite student, Mary Jackson is currently studying Professional Face, Body and Spa Therapies Level 5 and said, “It was really great that the spa owners took time out to meet us. I really enjoyed talking with them, and understanding the different spas that exist around Wellington. It boosted my confidence for future interviews, and showed me there are a number of opportunities that I could go for.”
